About the Blend
Forest and Trees was developed in consultation with reforestation director (and coffee farmer) Toribio Chajil. “When we taste coffee, we taste not only the aroma of the coffee, but life as well.” Toribio favors strong coffee taken black. Forest and Trees features a blend of medium and dark roasts of washed and honey process Café Juan Ana arabica beans. The result is a bold cup, but with the complexity afforded by the honey process. Moreover, Café Juan Ana pays farmers a premium for their best shade grown arabica coffee. As a result, your purchase benefits not only reforestation, but also farming families practicing shade coffee production in the community.
About Forestal Reforestation Project
A community-based organization, Forestal provides education for people of all ages. The project emphasizes reuse of resources and promotes a deeper understanding of the mutual dependence between people and forests. It distributes thousands of trees each year to coffee farmers for their shade canopies and to families and institutions for erosion control. Donations from the sale of Forest and Trees coffee helps the project keep the price of its educational initiatives and the trees it distributes affordable.
