During the meeting, the club was able to hear from and speak to student workers. Learning about the mission of the business which operates as a direct trade business, a research and learning lab, and a hub for connection.
Student, Project Lead, and Enactus Co-President Elizabeth Herwaldt has been part of The Coffee Lab for two years. She says that she “love[s] working markets because they allow us to connect with our customers and share our partners’ stories.”
Two of the products featured at the Fine Arts and Artisan Fair will be: the premium Whiskey Aged Guatemala coffee and the Coffee Soap. The Guatemalan coffee is sourced from San Lucas Tolimán, Guatemala from a direct trade relationship with the small-plot farmers. The farmers send their green beans then The Coffee Lab roasts them on NCC’s campus.
The Coffee Soap is created as a collaboration with a local artisan, Love and Earth Soap. It utilizes the coffee beans from the farming partners that are roasted on campus. Love and Earth Soap then puts the beans into a soap, creating a delicious coffee scent to be used as a hand soap or in the shower. The label is also made by evabeva design, a student at NCC.
